Hollywood will never be able to depict accurately how horrible the death on the cross was. Isaiah 53 and Psalm 22 give us a little idea. Isaiah says he was marred more than any man. His organs must have been hanging out after the scourging He took, his head and body must have undergone considerable swelling from the crown of thorns and having His beard ripped out of his face.
Christ died the the most vial sinners death, yet He being God did not sin (2 Cor. 5:21; Heb. 4:15). He was buried in a sinners tomb, yet His body did not decompose (Acts 2:31; 13:35). He rose (was resurrected from the grave bodily) and ascended with His blood the third day (the first day of the week, Sunday). He ascended to heaven and entered into the holy place to place His own blood on the altar in heaven, as our high priest, thereby paying for our sins (atonement) for all eternity. God was satisfied with the sacrifice. Hebrews 9 and 10. You receive Christ by realizing your sins were already paid for and trusting Christ as your Messiah (Saviour).
Now the choice is yours, He made His choice to save us. He provided a pardon for our sins. We can ignore that and cling to our self-righteousness to save us or choose to put our trust in His righteousness to save us for all eternity. He already paid the price with His blood on the altar (mercy seat) in heaven. His blood is still there making salvation possible for all those who will believe and trust in His finished work. What choice will be yours?
I choose to accept what Christ did for me as complete, total payment and pardon for sins penalty. I understand His blood satisfied God’s price for my sin. I know I cannot save myself because I am a sinner, so I will trust in what God provided instead. I accept God’s plan of salvation and no other, adding or taking away nothing from it. I trust Him as my Saviour for all eternity.
Or, I choose to ignore my responsibility to make a choice now. I don’t need Salvation. I will take my chances.
Which will it be for you? Let us know what you decide.
John 1:11-14 “He came unto his own, and his own received him not. But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.” Salvation is so simple a child can understand it. Christ who was God in the flesh (John 1:14) became a man, died, resurrected from the grave, put His own blood on the Mercy Seat (Heb.9) and thereby became our sacrifice lamb, paid for our sins 100% over 2000 years ago. All we have to do is believe He is the Messiah, Saviour and trust in His finished work. Rest in the knowledge that our salvation is already paid for by trusting in what He has already done and not in anything we can do.
